Peanut crackers first became popular in the bustling bazaars of North India, where vendors would fry them fresh in huge kadhais and sell them by the handful in newspaper cones. Crisp, golden shells with a spicy coating wrapped around a crunchy peanut - they were the snack that combined two things India loves most: masala and moongfali.

From roadside stalls to family dabbas, they travelled everywhere. What made them so irresistible was the craft - each peanut coated in a spiced batter of besan and rice flour, fried in groundnut oil till it puffed and crisped perfectly. Every bite held a crunch followed by the nuttiness of peanut and the kick of masala.
